Digital Marketing Case Study
It all began with a query at Head Office from a local beautician seeking advice on how to increase her business profile within the area. As per our usual procedure, we quickly identified the location of the business and passed the lead on to the relevant franchise – TLH02.
Whenever we start working with a new client, the first step is to meet the owner or manager and conduct a thorough consultation. The primary goal is to understand where the business currently stands and where they want it to be in the next 1, 3, or 5 years. For instance, are they aiming for modest growth in a lifestyle business or do they have ambitions for expansion on a much larger scale? Once we understand their vision, we can begin to craft a plan that will help them achieve their goals.
In this particular case, it quickly became apparent that the scope of work was much larger than initially expected. Rather than merely seeking to increase local awareness, the discussion was about launching a new spa facility, which was being built on a rural business park in South Northants. After spending an hour and a half asking a host of questions, we went away and put together a detailed business development plan for the new spa. The plan outlined the steps channels, and mechanisms we believed should be implemented to help the business achieve its objectives.
Digital Marketing Case Study: Shifting Focus
Upon presenting the plan to the potential client, we discovered that, while they appreciated the detailed strategy we had created, the financial outlay required was too high for their new business at this stage. However, they were so impressed with the plan that they brought it to a committee meeting with other tenants on the site. This led to a new conversation—one that involved us helping to market the entire business park, rather than just one individual business.
We were invited to another meeting with the various business owners on-site, who were particularly keen on having a new website that could be easily updated and maintained. To help facilitate the discussion, we brought along a couple of mocked-up web pages to showcase potential features, along with examples of our previous work. As a result of this secondary meeting, TLH02 was commissioned by the landlord to create a new website for the entire location, advertising all of the businesses operating there. Additionally, we secured at least one more website project for one of the tenants.
Unexpected Outcomes
This case is a great example of how discussions can take unexpected turns. Rather than simply working with one beautician, we found ourselves collaborating with both the landlord and several tenants to create multiple websites. Moreover, we are now in discussions regarding the ongoing marketing of the business park, particularly through social media platforms. We’ve also been referred to other businesses in need of website updates.
The final scope of work stemming from that initial enquiry? We’ll just have to wait and see!
