A Long-Standing Partnership

Over the past 14 years, we have had the pleasure of working with Ann Brebner, a dedicated local business owner with multiple successful ventures. Our journey began when Ann attended one of Jules’ social media marketing training courses. After the session, her words were: “That’s great, but I don’t have time to do it all. Can you do it for me?”—and just like that, a fruitful working relationship was born.

For the next five years, The Last Hurdle managed Ann’s social media marketing. As her business evolved, during that time, we supported Ann with:

  • Implementing Zoho CRM – A system she still uses to this day.
  • Social Media Marketing – Creating content, managing platforms, and growing her audience.
  • Marketing Materials – Designing postcards and handling various ad hoc marketing and business development projects.

Reconnecting for Business Development

In January, Ann reached out again—this time, seeking focused business development support for her local cleaning company, Orchard Home Cleaning. As a busy entrepreneur, her day-to-day schedule left little room for reviewing and optimising internal processes. Recognising that some tasks could be delegated to her capable team, our goal was to free up her time so she could concentrate on her community passion projects, like Jam Helping Out and her inspiring podcast, 1% Happier and Healthier.

Mapping Out Success

Our initial meeting revolved around dissecting the entire client journey—pinpointing who managed each step, where improvements could be made and delegating numerous tasks that really didn’t need to be on Ann’s pile. By our second session, we fine-tuned these processes further, clarifying team roles and responsibilities.

Today’s session took things a step further. We explored a new service offering, carefully mapping out each component to ensure seamless integration from the outset. Our primary focus was making this addition as efficient and responsive as possible.

A Hands-On Approach

Ann thrives on visual planning. To facilitate this, we used large flip chart sheets, colourful sticky notes, and labels. This interactive method allowed her to:

  • Visualise complete processes
  • Identify and rectify gaps
  • Reassign responsibilities for optimal efficiency
  • Experience several ‘aha’ moments that led to valuable insights

Jules’ role throughout? To act as a sounding board, provide accountability, and offer an external perspective. With her understanding of Ann’s business priorities—client satisfaction, team welfare, and customer retention—Jules ensured that every process aligned with Ann’s overarching goals.

Looking Ahead

Once we’ve refined and embedded these new processes, our next phase will focus on lead generation. We’ll work closely with Ann to attract new clients, aiming for sustainable growth that aligns with her business ambitions.
