BBB 2015 – The Aftermath
Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated The Last Hurdle’s 4th Birthday! We had a great time! Thank you to those who couldn’t make it and bought raffle tickets or bid on auction items…
We did it, we beat last years figure raised for The Lighthouse Centre – we raised a very respectable £1,550.00!
The venue, Towcester Rugby Club provided us with a delicious BBQ, really gorgeous food! From the Butternut Squash and pumpkin seed salad, to the handmade Angus beef burgers sourced from a local farm – really top notch food. Bruce and his team were very welcoming, the venue was the perfect place for a gorgeous summers afternoon!
A very special thank you to Jennifer Meredith from Miss Bumble Bee’s Bakehouse, who donated the cup cakes for the event. It doesn’t seem possible but they tasted even better than they looked!
Another special thank you to Jon Farmer from JP Foto who was also donated services for the day, we have used Jon a number of times for our events and he always seems to capture the best of the occasion!
I would also like to thank our charity, The Lighthouse Centre, especially Gemma who’s actions on the microphone during her talk made me and quite a few others snigger (because we are puerile), other than the entertainment value Gemma and her team spent a lot of time promoting the event through their own network.
We had a total of 32 prizes donated by our clients, suppliers and friends. We had a lot of fun raffling and auctioning these items off. Trevor is a fantastic auctioneer! He even got one company bidding against each other!
Here are the final figures on the auction items:
4 hours domestic cleaning from Time For You Northants – went for £60 to Alex Isherwood.
Bluesky thinking training day from Bulrushess Ltd – went to a joint effort from Ann Brebner & Jules White for £65.
Signed Cobblers Football donated by Mr Electric – went to our own new recruit Martin Curson for £40.
First Aid training from The Tess Group – was snapped up by Jules for £55, Ellie will be pleased as this has been on her development list for a while!
The signed ball, stadium tour and a picture with the trophy from Northampton Saints was fiercely contested – Ben O’Brien won the bid at £190 we even had an on the phone bidder for this item.
The MOT inc oil top up from Service MOT Repairs almost caused a family feud – Karen Shakespeare beat off her niece to clinch this prize at £50
The website or social media package for a month donated by The Last Hurdle – was grabbed by Peter Bushnell who decided to cut to the chase and won it for £200.
The 3 course meal for 4 people at Shajahan in Wollaston donated by Amber Properties caused the most giggles when team Tess were bidding against each other, I think they just like to support The Lighthouse Centre! The final bid was £130
The family portrait session with a print from Barret & Coe was very popular indeed and a very determined Ausra Uzukauskaite!
I know I say this every single year – I do mean it every year too! This year was the best one so far! Thank you!
The final thank you goes to The Last Hurdle team, this event takes quite a bit of organising each year!
Special thanks to Ellie for all the administration in the run up to the event, without her I am sure we would have been in a right muddle!
Megan who is a demon at selling raffle tickets, I am sure the bruises will have faded from most peoples necks by now. The doc has clearly been watching too much ‘Storage Hunters’ isn’t Trevor a great auctioneer!
Caz for stepping in to introduce The Lighthouse Centre with a full half an hours notice. You guys rock without your support this event wouldn’t be anywhere near as successful!
