Case Study – The Belmont Hotel
At The Last Hurdle, we pride ourselves on delivering bespoke Social Media Marketing solutions. This approach means we fully immerse ourselves in our clients’ businesses to boost their exposure, generate leads or attract more customers.
One of our standout clients is The Belmont Hotel, an independent, family-owned hotel situated in the heart of Leicester. The Belmont Hotel is renowned for its exquisite restaurant, offering innovative menus, individually designed rooms and bespoke meeting and wedding facilities.
Case Study – The Belmont Hotel
The Belmont is committed to providing a personal touch and offers an array of unique packages. These include the ‘Shop and Stay’ package with a drop-off and pick-up service for shoppers exploring Leicester’s retail scene, sporting packages with tickets to local events like Leicester races, and local rugby and football matches with special room rates. They also have weekly dining offers available at their bar and restaurant.
While these enticing packages are excellent, getting the word out is essential. To help The Belmont Hotel increase awareness, we decided to run a competition on Facebook promoting one of their standout packages.
The Social Media Strategy
We selected the ‘Girly Night In’ package for the competition – an overnight stay complete with treats such as ice cream, popcorn, DVDs, wine and chocolates. Who wouldn’t be tempted by such an offer? The results of this organic campaign were outstanding. Within just 24 hours, the post reached 22,577 people, garnered 306 likes, and was shared by 362 users. By the end of the short campaign, these numbers had risen to 48,151 people reached, 545 likes and 657 shares.
For those familiar with Facebook marketing, these figures might not seem particularly remarkable at first glance. However, what makes this campaign stand out is that it was achieved without any paid promotions or boosted posts. The exposure was entirely organic. We attribute the success of this competition to the carefully designed graphic, strategic wording and our close collaboration with The Belmont Hotel to understand their target market deeply.
Lucy, Revenue Manager at The Belmont, noted: “Since we have been running the competitions, The Belmont has enjoyed increased exposure through likes and shares. The competitions involving our specialist drinks have definitely proved popular!”
The Takeaway
This case study illustrates the power of well-executed, budget-friendly social media strategies. By understanding our client’s offerings and audience, we were able to maximise organic reach and engagement, showcasing that success doesn’t always require a significant budget.
