Kickbacks? No Thanks!

At The Last Hurdle, we are frequently contacted by businesses eager to offer us commissions or kickbacks in exchange for recommending their products to our clients. Typically, it goes something like this: we receive a phone call or email from a vendor boasting about a great new, innovative product. They then highlight how much we could earn if we persuade our clients to take it on board.

It can sound tempting: the more we sell of their product, the more profit we make.

But there’s one significant problem with that approach.

No Kickbacks, No Compromises

We take great pride in offering an independent, bespoke service—that’s why we have so many satisfied customers. We do not and will not, accept payments or commissions to endorse any product, service or brand, no matter how good (or bad) it might be.

Our clients trust us and pay us a retainer to act solely in their best interests. Recommending third-party products for personal financial gain would be both unethical and damaging to our reputation. It’s a principle of fairness and integrity that is written into our franchise agreements and runs through the core of how we do business.

If you think offering us a bigger commission will get us to bend, then you are going to be sadly disappointed.

Client-Centred, Always

At The Last Hurdle, our sole focus is on our clients. We work closely with them to develop the best possible business growth strategy, tailored to their specific needs, goals and budget. If we were to start recommending products purely for personal gain, we would quickly lose the respect and trust of the most important part of our business—our clients.

Yes, we do recommend suppliers and frequently use external services on behalf of our clients. But these recommendations are always based on quality, great service, value for money and return on investment (ROI), not financial incentives for us. Our guiding principle is simple: we make decisions as if we were the business owner. That means ensuring that every recommendation we make is in the best interest of the client.

Integrity is Non-Negotiable

We are here to work for our clients—full stop. Our recommendations are driven by their needs, not by any short-term financial benefits we might gain from endorsing someone else’s product. The greatest asset we have is the respect and trust of our clients. Losing that is something we will not risk.

Our clients don’t come to us looking for a sales pitch; they come to us for a spark to ignite their business. They want a hardworking, honest partner who is willing to roll up their sleeves and work on their behalf. This is why many of our clients have been with us for years, why they recommend us and why we continue to attract new business from those who’ve heard about the quality of our work.

We work with highly intelligent, ambitious individuals who expect a return on their investment. And we deliver. That’s what we do.

The Last Hurdle Stands for Quality

So, if you’re a business thinking of contacting us about your great product or service and offering a commission for recommending it to our clients, our advice is simple: don’t. We don’t compromise on quality and neither do our clients.

However, if you have a product, service or idea that you believe genuinely adds value—and you’re not just interested in kickbacks—then we’d love to hear from you. We’re always open to exploring new opportunities that could benefit our clients and improve the solutions we offer them.

Be prepared to back it up. Let’s talk.
