Organic Reach for Facebook Business Pages
Organic Reach for Facebook Business Pages
Over recent years there has been an increase in how many pages each user likes and the number of Facebook friends we have. This is why you only ever see relevant posts on the top of your news feed from our closest friends, family and other pages we interact with most, as our news feed is sorted by ‘Top Stories’ rather than ‘Most Recent’. This is so that our news feed doesn’t get too clogged up with posts from accounts and page we never really interact with.
In an article written in June 2014, Brian Boland, of Facebook, stated that “There is now far more content being made than there is time to absorb it. On average, there are 1,500 stories that could appear in a person’s News Feed each time they log onto Facebook. For people with lots of friends and Page likes, as many as 15,000 potential stories could appear any time they log on.”
However, in sorting Facebook posts by ‘Top Stories’ on the news feed, there has also been a gradual decline in the organic reach that a business page has, as it makes it more difficult for your target audience to notice your posts – especially if your target audience rarely interacts with you.

In a recent article in Hubspot, Erik Devaney commented “There are simply too many Pages producing too much content for too many fans, which means competition for visibility on the News Feed is high. What’s more, Facebook is trying to make sure people are only seeing the best content — the stuff that is relevant to them.”
Facebook Ads are a solution to this problem, as they boost the news feed prominence of your selected posts. This works by paying a small fee, so that your post will be shown towards the top of the news feed of the users who fit into the bracket of your target market. You can choose exactly how much to pay into boosting the post, so it’s entirely up to you how many users you would like to reach.
You then have a choice over the type of demographic the post should be boosted to, such as the age, gender, location and interests shared by the chosen demographic.
In one of our recent blog posts we shared on social media, we spent just over £15 to boost the post, which ended up reaching an amazing number of 4,323 people, then leading to 268 people clicking through to our website. This totals out to around 6p per interaction. It’s a great idea for those who just want that extra boost to reach your target market, and for just the £15 we put in, you really can’t complain!
We think that Facebook Ads are great for all businesses wanting to be one step ahead of their competitors, as it guarantees you a better chance to reach your target audience better. Even if it is just a one-off boost, it really can make a difference!

This is another great article on Facebook Pages. I agree with a lot of the content in it, but would also add that Facebooks entire business model, has been copied and / or adapated from Google…. Through Advertising.
So, by having a page, which restricts content, however its done, they are encouraging, if not pushing you towards pages, through which you can actually get your posts / content seen, in a very similar way to Google AdWords
Its true facebook ads are good and produce results, however when compared to the ad options that Google allows you have in terms of Keywords, then there are no comparisons
Facebook advertising through pages, allows you to reach those members of FB who want to see those type of ads
