Silverstone Business Forum

The Last Hurdle™ is delighted to be involved in the Silverstone Business Forum – a networking event with a difference that is held, surprise surprise, in Silverstone. The forum has been started by a group of local business people all of whom are keen to ‘give something back’ to the small and medium businesses in the area.

Over 60 people attended the first event on Feb 6^th at the new Silverstone UTC technical college which featured an inspiring talk by the Principal of the college – Neil Patterson. Neil had spent the majority of his career in engineering within the high performance motorsport industry, latterly as the Chief Engineer at McLaren motorsport. It was really refreshing to hear how they are preparing their students to be ready for the workplace by, for example, having them work on real projects for various partnering companies such as Aston Martin.

Following the talk there was further time for networking and also an opportunity to speak to any of the advisors present and get some free business advice. This is what makes Silverstone Business Forum that bit different. Anyone is welcome to ask questions and use the combined expertise within the room to get a range of possible solutions. We all have issues from time to time within our businesses and it is very likely that someone else in the room has already been through it and can help you overcome your own Last Hurdle.

Silverstone Business Forum will take place on the first Thursday of every month at the Silverstone UTC, the next meeting being at 6pm on the 6^th March. At that event Roz Bird from MEPC will be telling us about the plans they have for the business parks to be built at the circuit, currently set to be 2 million ft² and their plans to create a high performance engineering cluster based around the circuit.
