Swim Northants for Charity
The Last Hurdle 02, myself and Trevor, will be getting our swimming costumes on ready to be part of a team that will ‘Swim Northants’ – a whole 70 miles! You may be confused how we are going to swim across Northamptonshire, as it’s not literally possible. Between us, the team will be swimming the equivalent of the length of the county (plus a bit to make round numbers), which is 70 miles. The event itself will be held at The Mounts in Northampton.
Why are we doing this? We are doing this to help raise money for a fantastic charity which we support at The Last Hurdle, called The Lighthouse Centre – a complementary therapy unit offering holistic therapies for people with long term conditions and cancers in their own home. The centre is patient orientated with the patient’s needs and the centre of any therapy or treatment that is prescribed.
After being asked if I wanted to join the charity event, I was very excited and thrilled to be a part of an event raising money for such a great cause. Then it dawned on me I’m not a great swimmer and that I was going to have to pull my finger out and get training! Trevor is equally as nervous as swimming is also not his ‘thing’, he much prefers sitting on a bike and peddling around the country.
Swim Northants
September the 6th is the date for the big event. I think it’s fair to say both of us have a very long way to go (not just on the day) and we have definitely got lots of training to do. Unfortunately we are not Olympic swimmers, although that would be very handy right now.
Gemma, one of The Lighthouse Centre legends, has told us that there will also be a prize for the best costume – we could definitely have fun with that! Any suggestions and ideas on what we can wear will be much appreciated.
Please sponsor us! All donations are highly appreciated and welcome. Thank you!
