Using Facebook as Your Business Page

Facebook can be a fantastic platform for marketing your business and building relationships. Many business owners merge their personal Facebook profiles with their business pages, making it easier to manage both on a day-to-day basis. By using one main account, instead of multiple accounts for each business page you manage, you can maintain a more streamlined process. This crossover between your personal and business life can help make your company more relatable, as people are often more inclined to engage with a person than a faceless organisation.

Previously, Facebook allowed users to switch between their personal profiles and business pages using the ‘View As…’ option under the arrow in the top-right corner of the screen. This function enabled you to manage, post and interact as your business page. However, with Facebook’s constant updates, this has changed. Here’s a guide to help you understand the new way of using Facebook as your business page.

Navigating Your Business Pages

  1. Finding Your Pages
To access the pages you manage, simply look for the ‘Pages’ section on the left-hand side of your Facebook homepage. This will show a list of all the business pages you manage.
  2. Selecting Which Page to Post From
When creating a post, you can choose which page to post from by clicking the small profile picture icon in the top-right corner of the status box. This will open a drop-down menu listing all the pages associated with your account, along with a search box to quickly find the page or profile name.
  3. Posting as Your Business Page
After selecting the relevant page, any posts you create will appear under that business page’s name.
  4. Interacting as Your Business Page
Similarly, when liking, commenting on, or sharing a post, you can choose whether to interact as your personal profile or as your business page. Simply click the profile picture icon before engaging with any post.

Pros and Cons of the New Method

While this new method of switching between personal profiles and business pages may take a little getting used to, it offers more flexibility than before. The downside is that switching profiles to like or comment as your business page can be slightly tedious. However, the process is generally faster, so by the time you spot something you want to engage with, making the switch is relatively straightforward. You might occasionally need to track down the post again, but overall, it’s a smoother process.

Adapting to the Changes

As with all Facebook updates, the new system may take some time to adjust to. However, in the long run, it provides greater control over how you engage with your audience. Being able to switch between profiles and pages more fluidly is beneficial for those managing multiple business pages or wanting to keep personal and business interactions separate.
